How to Deal with Rejection from a Crush - 5 Truths to Remember
If you are feeling rejected by a crush, these 5 truths will help you get over rejection.
Moving on may not happen overnight, but if you remember these powerful truths about rejection in dating, you’ll be able to have hope again in the dating scene.
1) God has not rejected you
No matter how many men have turned you down or rejected you, it’s important to remember what God says about you.
“You are my servant; I have chosen you; I haven’t rejected you.” - Isaiah 41:9 CSB
God has chosen you—he hasn’t rejected you.
If you have the desire to get married, you can trust that God has chosen you to become someone’s wife, and that he will show you how to find a husband.

2) Not every guy you meet will be your future husband
If you’re dating, rejection can feel like it hurts at the time. But you have to realize that not every guy you meet or go on a date with is your future husband.
Rejection is part of dating.
Unless you marry your high school sweetheart, you won't face a ton of rejection from men.
But if you have the desire to get married, you have to understand that rejection is part of dating, and that God has not rejected you.
Part of dealing with rejection in dating is realizing that rejection is a part of dating.
It’s almost impossible to date without getting rejected.
3) Your future husband will not reject you
Your future husband will want to date and pursue you.
He will know you are the woman and helper that God created for him, and he will be so excited to ask you out and take you on a date.
When you meet your husband, you’ll be glad it didn’t work out with other guys you thought you really wanted to date.
No matter how many times you’ve been rejected in dating, you have to trust and believe that the man that God has for you won’t reject you.
4) Rejection can be a blessing
When you’re married and look back at all the guys that you dated or thought you’d wanted to marry, you’ll be able to see that their rejection was a blessing.
Even though it’s hard to see it at the time, rejection is a blessing in disguise.
You could have wasted your time dating the wrong guy, and experienced heartbreak when things didn’t work out.
If a guy doesn’t ask you out or admits he’s not interested in you romantically, let every rejection from the wrong guy be a blessing.
Would you rather go out with someone, only to find out months later that they weren’t feeling it from the beginning? Or would you rather them be honest from the beginning?
Now that I’m married, I am able to look back and see how rejection in dating was a blessing.

5) Rejection is not about you, it’s about whether or not you’re a good fit for someone
When you get rejected by your crush, it’s easy to start thinking that he rejected you, and that something is wrong with you.
But instead of thinking, ‘he doesn’t want to go out with me, something must be wrong with me’, shift your focus to what rejection in dating means.
Rejection in dating really means he’s not interested in dating you, or doesn’t see a future with you.
Let rejection remind you that this guy isn’t the one, instead of feeling like you’re not good enough to be the one.
The whole purpose of dating is to find someone to marry and spend the rest of your life with.
If there wasn’t rejection happening, this would actually be a bad thing. You don’t want to end up with the wrong guy just because you were afraid to end things.

Rejected by a crush – don’t take it personally
If you start to take being rejected from your crush personally, it can destroy your confidence and ability to have hope with dating in the future.
When you start to feel like something is wrong with you, or feel like you are personally not good enough, this is when you can start to feel your confidence slipping or start to feel bad about yourself.
But again, rejection is part of dating.
You are not going to marry every guy you go out with.
Instead of wondering what’s wrong with you, be grateful that the guy was honest, and acknowledge that he wasn’t the guy that God has for you.
And no matter how rejected you feel, remember that God has not rejected you, and your future husband will be thrilled to take you on a date.
How to Get Over Rejection from a Crush
If you just got rejected by your crush, you may not know what to say to him, or even how to move on.
But you will get over him if you approach rejection in a healthy way.
What to do if your crush rejects you
Wondering what to do when your crush rejects you? Being rejected is not easy – it hurts and it can be pretty awkward.
No matter how tempted you are to cry or say something hurtful when your crush rejects you, it’s important to remember the golden rule of dating.
Treat others how you would want to be treated.
“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you.” – Matthew 7:12 NLT
Even if your crush rejected you in a way that was rude, hurtful, or mean, you don’t need to treat him this way back.
What to say when your crush rejects you
Wondering what to say when your crush rejects you?
If your crush tells you that he’s not interested, you could ask him why or want an explanation, but it may not make you feel better.
If your crush does provide a reason why he’s not interested, or after he tells you that he’s not interested in dating, you can always thank him for being honest and open up front.
Would you rather have a guy be afraid to admit he wasn’t feeling it from the beginning only to find out months after dating that he wasn’t into you?
When your crush rejects you, try not to get defensive or convince him to like you.
If the guy is into you, he won’t need convincing.
It’s best to keep it short and simple. Thank him for being honest and for telling you, and wish him the best.
What to say if your crush rejects you over text
Your crush rejected you over text? Oh no he didn’t!
First of all, if you got rejected by your crush over text, I am so sorry my friend.
You deserved at least a phone call, or for this guy to tell you the truth in person.
Text messages were not meant for rejection or serious conversations, but if your crush rejects you over text, keep it short and to the point.
Don’t respond with a long follow-up text, asking for more explanation or for questions.
If you want to discuss things more with this guy, you can ask him if he would be open to discussing it in person or over the phone.
But resist the urge to word vomit your feelings or questions via text.
If your crush rejected you over text, he may not have the courage to tell you the truth to your face, so if he isn’t up for meeting up in person, don’t get upset.
How to act around your crush that rejected you
Your crush rejected you, and you may still see him around. But should you talk to him or should you avoid him?
Should I talk to my crush after rejection?
It depends. If you have to see each other and can’t avoid it, you will probably have to talk to each other and do your best to be civil, mature adults.
But if you don’t see this guy at work, school, or at church, it’s probably best to avoid him for a little while until you’ve been able to move on.
And if your paths don’t cross with this guy again in the future, it’s okay not to engage in conversation again at all.
As you try and move on after being rejected, don’t text him or comment on his social media either.
Give him space, and if he does reach out to you again, then you can consider if you are ready to talk to him.
How long does it take to get over a crush rejection?
Moving on when you’ve been rejected by a crush depends on how long you’ve liked him, and how willing you are to turn to God during this time.
If you let God heal your broken heart, you’ll be able to heal and move on much faster than if you turn to other men or try and block out the pain.
And contrary to what the world may tell you, the best way to get over someone is NOT to get under someone else.
Surrender your pain and broken heart to God, and pray these prayers for a broken heart to move on and heal.
Online dating rejection, and how to deal with rejection when you get rejected online
How can getting rejected by a stranger online hurt just as much as getting rejected by your crush in person?
It seems kind of crazy that getting rejected by a stranger that you haven’t even met can hurt just as much as getting rejected by your crush in person, but somehow, online dating rejection still hurts.
When I was on the dating apps, I only felt more rejected and worse about my self being single.
I would match with guys on the apps, but most guys didn’t bother to strike up a conversation, or ask me out.
What was the point of putting myself out there if nobody was going to ask me on a real date?
After spending hours swiping left and right, this whole online dating thing only made me feel worse about myself.
I couldn’t face the virtual rejection anymore. Every guy that ghosted me or that didn’t ask me out was like a reminder that they didn’t want me.
I knew I had to keep putting myself out there in order to find a husband, but was I really supposed to keep going after all this rejection?
And how was I supposed to feel good about myself after so many guys had turned me down?
How to deal with online dating rejection in dating
If you’ve been rejected online, remember again that rejection is part of dating.
But with online dating, since you’re not meeting in person and you only have a profile to determine if you want to go out with this person, it can make rejection even more likely.
If people decide who they want to go out with based on a person’s photos or a short bio, some people can start to reject potential prospects on looks or certain attributes alone.
But if you’ve been rejected online, remember that this person hasn’t even met you.
While it may seem unfair that they’ve rejected you without even meeting you, this should actually make you feel better.
They don’t even know you, and if they are going to reject you based on a few pictures and a bio, it’s their loss.
But why would a guy reject you after you match online?
I got so frustrated with the dating apps when I would match with a guy, and he wouldn’t ask me out.
I felt like it was a waste of time, and I was putting more pressure on myself to make sure I was witty and clever in striking up a conversation.
But as I shared my frustration with a guy friend, he revealed something about how guys approach the online dating world that I hadn’t considered.
“I just swipe right on every girl and then see who I match with later. If I match with someone, I then take the time to check out her profile to see if I’m interested.
It takes too much time to go through every profile in the beginning, so I just swipe right on every girl to save time, and to see only the women that are interested in me.”
When my guy friend shared this, I started to turn red and feel my pulse race. I knew so many women who were looking for serious relationships, and here guys were swiping right on every one and then deciding if they wanted to go out.
Online dating takes time, and if the guys aren’t asking you out or if you’ve been rejected, just remember that rejection is part of dating, and not everyone is taking the time to browse through your profile before they swipe right.
How to surrender your fear of rejection in dating to God
Just like it says in Isaiah 41:10, you do not need to fear because God is with you.
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10 NLT
And God has not given you a spirit of fear.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.” – 2 Timothy 1:7 CSB
If you’re worried about feeling rejected again, or don’t know how much more rejection in dating you can take, remember that God is on this dating journey with you.
He wants you to meet and date your future husband, and if a guy doesn’t ask you out or admits he’s not interested in you romantically?
Let this be a blessing. Remember, your future husband will not reject you, and it’s better to get rejected by your crush than waste your time dating or thinking that someone could be the one.
Prayer against fear of rejection in dating
God, I thank you that you have not given me a spirit of fear, but a spirit of love, power, and sound mind.
I surrender my fear of being rejected in dating to you.
I put my trust in you, and I choose to step out in faith to meet my husband, despite the fact that I feel afraid. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayers for when you feel rejected by your crush
God, I surrender any feelings of rejection to you. I thank you that you have not rejected me, and that you are with me on this dating journey.
Help me to forgive and move on from this person. I trust that you will show me the man I’m supposed to be with, and that my future husband will not reject me.
I declare that my future husband will be excited to go out with me, and I don’t have to worry or fear getting rejected. In Jesus name, Amen.

Prayer against the spirit of rejection in dating
If you liked someone for a while, or were dating someone or in a relationship, being rejected by your crush can physically hurt.
If you feel depressed, suicidal, or like you aren’t worthy to be in a relationship, you may need to seek help from someone at your church, or from a Christian counselor.
If rejection is not dealt with in a healthy way, it can cause a spirit of rejection to come in and make things worse.
God wants to heal you, but a spirit of rejection is from the Enemy that wants to constantly remind you that you aren’t good enough.
