When I had a broken heart, I felt all alone in a new city without any friends. I spent several Friday nights on my couch praying and crying out to God, asking him to heal my heartbreak.
And as I prayed for my broken heart to be healed, God gave me the strength to move on from my past relationship.
God gave me joy again, and he helped me see that he was working all things for good, even my broken heart.

God, I pray that you heal my broken heart. Your word says that you will heal me completely, and I surrender my broken heart to you to heal.
You are the ultimate healer and I trust that you will heal my broken heart. Thank you for making me whole again.
Thank you for healing me and for putting all the pieces of my heart back together again.

God, I thank you that you are in control. You are my Heavenly Father, you created everything on this Earth and you know what I need.
I surrender the past and my broken heart to you, and I trust that you will show me my future. I trust that you will use this time for good.
I trust that you are in control of my future. You know who my future husband is, and I thank you for bringing us together in your perfect timing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lord, I surrender my broken heart to you today. Help me to feel your peace in this season as I heal from this relationship.
Jesus, you are the prince of peace and I thank you for the gift of peace today.
Help me to rest and be still in your presence, and know that you are healing my broken heart and that you have a future for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God, help me to feel your joy today. Help me to laugh again, and to see the good that you are doing all around me.
The joy of the Lord is my strength, and today I choose joy because I have you God and I am loved by you.
And I pray that I take back any joy that the enemy has stolen from me. God, I will worship and praise you even when I don’t feel like it because you are my God. And this I know, you are for me.
And today I pray that joy bubbles up inside of me. Holy Spirit, help me to feel your joy and laughter again. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

How do I pray to let go?
Surrendering the person to God is the first step in letting go. Pray and release the person to God, and trust that God is in control.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV
“This I know: God is for me.” – Psalm 56:9 CSB
God, I surrender this person and my broken heart to you. I let them go, and I release them to you.
I trust that you are in control, and that if we were meant to be together, you would make a way.
But today I choose to let them go. I surrender them to you, and I trust that you know what is best for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer to Move on From the Past Relationship
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
“Do not remember the past events; pay no attention to things of old. Look, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it?” – Isaiah 43:18-19 CSB
God, I pray that you help me move on from the past. I thank you for healing my broken heart, and for showing me how to move forward.
I will not dwell on the things of the past, and I trust that you have a future for me. Help me focus on Jesus and all that you are doing in my life. I surrender the past to you Lord, help me to move on today and show me the future you have for me.
Lord, I trust that you know the future and plans that you have for me, plans for hope and a future, plans to prosper and not be harmed.
I trust you Lord, and that I will not have a broken heart forever. I will move on, and I trust that you will bring the right person that you have for me into my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer for Forgiveness from a Relationship
“But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.” – Matthew 6:14 NLT
God, help me forgive this person. I know it is not healthy to hold onto this resentment and unforgiveness. I surrender these feelings to you Lord. You know how I feel, help me to forgive this person.
Lord, I surrender this person to you. I forgive this person for what they have done, and I release them to you. I surrender any unforgiveness, any resentment or any better bitterness towards this person to you Lord. Help me to forgive them in my heart and move on.
Just like you have forgiven me for all my sins, I forgive this person for hurting me and for breaking my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thank you for bringing me true friends who encourage me and left me up during this time.
