God Works All Things for Good

We only have a few months left in 2020. A new decade and year where none of us could have predicted all that has happened.

Just because 2020 hasn’t gone like you planned doesn’t mean its over. 'It ain’t over till it’s over' is most definitely true as a child of God as God promises to work all things for good for those who love him.

God promises to redeem and restore what has been lost. He promises to bless those who love him and who obey his commands.

To see God move in 2020, we must choose to have faith no matter what the news or our circumstances are telling us.

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 11:1 that faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Faith is believing that something will happen before it happens. Faith is believing that God really is in control and that he does want to bless you as his beloved child.

What does your faith look like in 2020?

So let me ask you, are you going to have faith that God can turn 2020 around for this nation and for you personally? Or are you choosing to believe what the world says around you about the “new normal”?

What promises have you been speaking over your circumstances and your year? Have you been declaring that God will bring his favor down to you or have you been agreeing with the world and that nothing good will come out of 2020?

A lot can happen in 6 months. I am living proof that God can move in miraculous ways, even during a time of quarantines and protests.

In the past 6 months, the man of my dreams and prayers asked me out and asked me to marry him. My best friend from childhood surrendered her life to Jesus and was baptized. My second, beautiful nephew was brought into this world. God enabled me to launch this blog, Fun & Holy, to share the truth and love of Jesus with other women. All in 6 months with the power of God!

In the past 6 months, others have launched new online businesses and purchased new homes. Started new relationships and friendships with others. Got married. Had babies. Graduated from college. And more couples got engaged!

Life and God’s blessings certainly didn’t stop in 2020. They are just getting started and these blessings are for you too if you believe that they will happen to you and that God can do it.

If you want to see God turn 2020 into your best year yet, it starts with going back to your vision and goals that you set at the beginning of the year.

Go Back to Your Vision for 2020

Proverbs 29:18 tells us that where there is no vision, the people perish.

Most people set the vision or new goals at the beginning of the year. To make the most out of the rest of 2020, I encourage you to pick up your vision card or go back to your journal where you wrote down your goals and dreams for the year.

Before you start thinking about the rest of 2020, praise and thank God for all he has done in 2020. Write down all the God stories and ways God has moved in and through your life.

Celebrate and worship God in praise! Tell others what God has done and prophecy that God will do it again for them.

Then, pick up the Bible and fill yourself with God’s promises and his word. Meditate on the word and start declaring through prayer who God is and what he can do the rest of this year.

Believe that what you wrote on your vision card will still come true with the power of God.

Below are 15 verses I’ve been meditating and praying on in this season. When I see how God restored his children in the Bible, it gives me hope that he will do it again for this nation.

As I planned a wedding during a quarantine season that has lasted longer than expected, these verses gave me hope and strengthen my faith in what God can do.

If you never wrote down your vision or goals, it’s not too late to start. Pray and ask God what he wants to do in your life in 2020 and believe that he can move in miraculous ways over the next 6 months.

Reassess Your Spiritual Goals

Was growing closer to God one of your goals for 2020? A lot of us want to grow spiritually but we don’t often define how we are actually going to grow closer to God.

Have you defined what specific steps or activities you want to implement to ensure that you are growing?

My fiancé and I started a new routine where we reassess and write new goals each quarter. Don't wait until the New Year to reassess your goals and establish new goals to ensure you are continuing to grow closer to God in this time.

Just because a lot of church doors remain shut due to gathering restrictions doesn’t mean you can’t grow spiritually. There are a lot of other ways you can grow spiritually during this time.

In my blog post, Are you Flexing Your Spiritual Muscles, I talk about how we need to treat our relationship with God like our fitness goals and that we need to put in time, effort and training to get the results we want.

Just like with fitness goals, we know we don’t see results overnight and we must set intentional goals to spend time with God to get the relationship we are seeking.

To help you set and reassess your spiritual goals, you can use this Spiritual Goals Worksheet to identify and set goals that you want to implement. The worksheet discusses 10 different spiritual disciplines or areas and will help you assess and set new spiritual goals with 46 example spiritual goals to consider.

After you’ve set your goals for the rest of 2020, make sure you’ve planned ahead to make God a priority in your schedule. As I discuss in my blog post, How to Make God Your #1 Priority, we can set all the goals we want but if we never make God a priority, we aren’t going to end up seeing the growth we want.

We constantly need to be revisiting our goals every week and making them a priority in our busy schedules. With a lot of people working from home and with more time on their hands, a lot of people have actually implemented a lot of these goals that they struggled with for so long because they have more time to make God a priority in their schedule.

But when we return to life as normal after COVID, don’t let the busyness and hustle and bustle consume you. Continue the habits and time with God that you implemented. Continue to make God your top priority no matter what.

Your spiritual growth is up to you my friend and now is the perfect time in 2020 to set new goals with God and to start making them a priority.

15 Bible Verses to Pray, Believe and Declare in 2020

There is power when we speak and declare God’s promises over any situation and as a nation, it is more important than ever to remember and declare God’s word.

So today, instead of speaking death over your circumstances and the rest of 2020, speak life by speaking God’s word. Declare his promises and choose to have faith in this time.

Don’t limit what God can do this year by your own thoughts. If you think 2020 will be a bad year, then it most likely will. If you believe in what God can still do this year, then according to your faith let it be done.

Start praying, declaring and believing these verses and get ready to see God move the rest of the year in miraculous ways.

Praise for God’s Works

“For you have made me rejoice, Lord, by what you have done; I will shout for joy because of the works of your hands. How magnificent are your works, Lord, how profound your thoughts!” – Psalm 92:4-5 CSB

God delights in our praise! Nothing unlocks the peace of God like giving thanks to him for all that he has done. When we thank God with praise before we pray, it gives us a boost of faith to pray and speak God's promises over our lives with power.

Faith

“What do you mean, ‘If I can’?”Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” – Mark 9:23 NIV

All things are possible to those who believe. When we believe that God can do it, he will. Don't limit what God can do for you in 2020 by limiting what you believe. Nothing is impossible for God and he wants us to start believing it.

“Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”.” – Matthew 9:29 NIV

It all comes back to faith. Faith in the power of Jesus to do more than we could ever imagine or think possible. When Jesus healed the sick and set the oppressed free, he was moved by faith that it could be done.

God responds to our faith. Have faith in the vision and dreams he's put on your heart for 2020 and believe that he can do it.

God’s Blessings & Presence

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” - Numbers 6:24-26 NIV

Such a beautiful reminder of God's blessings. I pray that we all feel God's peace in this season and that he pours out his blessings to his children in 2020.

“Let’s strive to know the Lord. His appearance is as sure as the dawn. He will come to us like the rain, like the spring showers that water the land.” – Hosea 6:3 CSB

God promises to draw near to us when we draw near to him. When we seek his presence, he promises to reveal himself to us. He wants to spend time with us and delights when we take time to spend with him.

“Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him! People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you.” – Isaiah 30:18-19 NIV

God is a God of justice; he is in control and we can rely on God to bring justice to the nation. He hears every prayer and cry for help during this time of quarantines and protests. God is in control and he will bring justice to the nation!

“Then my enemies will retreat on the day when I call. This I know: God is for me.” – Psalm 56:9 CSB

This has been one of my favorite verses lately. On days when I feel anxious or worried, I remind myself that God is for me. It's such a simple yet powerful reminder that God is always with me and that he is for me.

God Restores & Brings a Harvest

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28 NIV

This has always been one of my favorite verses. No matter what I'm going through, I pray and declare this verse and that God is going to use it for good. In 2020, I pray and believe that God will use COVID and protests for good and for his glory.

“Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” – John 4:35 NIV

Harvest is my word for 2020 and I am believing in a harvest of salvations, transformations and leaders for God's kingdom. I believe that he is using this season to bring his children back to him, that thousands of people are receiving the gift of salvation during this season. I believe the harvest is now and that people are ready and open to receive the love of Jesus more than ever.

“Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him.” – Genesis 26:12 NIV

Isaac received a harvest in the same year that he planted! Don't let 2020 stop you from planting and sowing where you are today. Start planting today and get ready to see what God can do in 6 months.

“After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before. The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. And he also had seven sons and three daughters.” – Job 42:10 and Job 42:12-13 NIV

Job is the ultimate story of restoration for what has been lost. God restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before!

I pray and believe that God will restore all that has been lost in 2020 due to COVID and will restore this nation to better than it was before. I can't wait to see how God defines the "new normal"!

“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm—my great army that I sent among you.” Joel 2:25 NIV

Replace locusts with COVID and pray this verse like you believe it. God will repay you for the months that COVID has stolen from you!

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” – Genesis 50:20 NIV

What the enemy meant for evil, God will use for good. When you share the goodness and power of God moving in your life, others will be saved and transformed through your testimony.

“God, your God, will restore everything you lost; he'll have compassion on you; he'll come back and pick up the pieces from all the places where you were scattered. No matter how far away you end up, God, your God, will get you out of there and bring you back to the land your ancestors once possessed. It will be yours again. He will give you a good life and make you more numerous than your ancestors. – Deuteronomy 30:3-5 MSG

God is a compassionate, loving God. He will restore everything you lost and will make your life good again!

“And you will make a new start, listening obediently to God, keeping all his commandments that I'm commanding you today. God, your God, will outdo himself in making things go well for you: you'll have babies, get calves, grow crops, and enjoy an all-around good life. Yes, God will start enjoying you again, making things go well for you just as he enjoyed doing it for your ancestors. But only if you listen obediently to God, your God, and keep the commandments and regulations written in this Book of Revelation. Nothing halfhearted here; you must return to God, your God, totally, heart and soul, holding nothing back.” – Deuteronomy 30:8-10 MSG

God will outdo himself in making things go well for you when you obey God's commands. This is why it's so important to not only read the Bible but to live out God's commands in every part of your life. You can't expect God's blessings if you don't obey what he tells you to do. It's not too late to turn to God and to obey him with all your heart.

Make the Most of 2020

Don’t let the rest of 2020 pass you by. Make the most out of it now by speaking life and God’s promises over the rest of this year. Go back to your vision card and goals and choose to have faith in God to make these things happen. Reassess these goals and set new goals to continue growing closer to God in such a time as this.

When you think back on 2020, are you going to remember it as the worst year yet? Are you going to remember the hard times of quarantines and protests? Or are you going to remember God’s goodness and faithfulness? Are you going to remember it as the year that God did more than you ever could have imagined or prayed for?

Throw another 2020 new year’s party if you need to if that will help get you excited for all God can do the rest of the year. Party, praise and prophecy like COVID never happened. Champagne toast anyone?
